Sky Blue Thoughts...
In the dumpster across the street from our apartment for the last 2 weeks has been a sky blue toilet. Obviously someone decided it was time for a change in crapper. But everytime I see it I think, "Why the hell would you want a sky-blue toilet." The only explaination I can think of is that the person has a fanasty that they are actually shitting in the sky and that their feces will forever enjoy an eternal sky blue freefall. I am sure some people might say "Lou, it's probably because it was part of a matching set to decore the bathroom for some sor of decorative effect." To you I say "Fuck off." Thats the easy answer. I'm looking for hard or "wrong" answers.
Another thing about the sky blue toilet is that it has been partially smashed. The water tank looks like someone busted out of it from the inside. I kind of think this was done to ensure passersby don't just use it. Kind of how they are required to take refridgerator doors off so kids don't play hide & seek in them and die. They probably want to make sure people aren't like "Hey, a sky blue toilet... well no one around... I've always wanted to free my poop into an never-ending free fall in a heavenly blue sky...*unzip*" I am glad this isn't happenig, too. Recall I said I can see it from my apartment. That is something I don't need to see.

The sky! She's a makin' the snow!
This entry is now hopelessly outdated... having said that...
They call it the blizzard of '06! I call it the... well... what they said I guess. I know they say we broke all kinds of records with like 26" of snow but it didn't seem like more that '96. I will agree that it was an ass-load of snow. Last night Jodi and I went out for a little night of enjoyment. My mom was in town and offered to watch Ace so we went to see Tristam Shandy which was a weird movie. It was really interesting at first but then kind of turned into a random movie about making a movie and then back to an interesting movie that ended abruptly. It starred Steve Coogan, who is pretty funny and the lady who plays Moaning Myrtle from the Harry Potter movies. There were others in there but I don't want to mention them at the moment. After the movie we went to the Zombie Hut on Smith Street. they moved to some new swanky digs a block away from their old place. Now they have like a little ski chalet type back room with gas fireplace and a backyard for summer drinking times. I look forward to sipping frozen booze concoctions there. By this point it was snowing but not sticking. I scoffed at the snow warnings. "B'ah! They always say that snow blizzard shit. I don't buy it." We made our way to Tuk Tuk which is our favorite Thai place. The food there is delicious. I had this Chicken Pan Himmapan. It was fantastic! Lady on to our left told a story about a friend of theirs being bitten in the dick by a parrot. The guys to the right of us spilled all their glasses of water as they were leaving without telling anyone so the waitress discovered their accident at the last possible moment before seating someone else there. The guys thought it was hilarious as they scurried out. Scumbags.
After finishing up at Tuk Tuk we stumbled to The Brazen Head. I was really hoping to have a 6 Points of some variety. They didn't have any so I ordered a Victory Hop Devil. Normally I love the VHD but this was as flat as can be. I choked it down and told the bartender it sucked. He offered me another tap but I declined.
Then we started home but Jodi suggested going to the Dragon Lounge. The Dragon Lounge is a small space that was briefly a restaurant and is now a club. For a long time it was a restaurant that was going to open called SoJu. It was close to opening for what seemed like a year without opening. Then one day it opened. I'd say about 4 month later I got an email to my evite thing saying that SoJu was now the Dragon Lounge and that it was a hot new club with DJ's instead of food. We decided to stop in and see what was up. We were the only patrons of the DL on Saturday night at 10pm. The space was really nice and big. They also have the outdoor action in back for some summer imbibing. However I don't think I will be going there again because 1) The Vodka Gimlet I ordered was terrible. It was made with what I think was Real Lime and Stoli so it was murky and bitter. 2) It cost $10. Thats just a little out of the reasonable amount for a cocktail. I will take a rail booze vodka & roses made right over that nonsense any-day. Even the Vodka gimlet at Montero, which is a total dive, was better. So, sorry Dragon Lounge. I think that your $10 drinks and weirdo space probably aren't going to catch on. Especially when people have Last Exit or Floyd to chose from.
This morning I woke up with Ace and we stared in amazement at the winter wonderland in our backyard. After helping the super a little I grabbed a shovel and started making a little snow ramp for ace off the top of the picnic table.
After playing in the backyard for a while we plopped Ace in the sled and we dragged him through the streets on it. We was in Ace-y heaven as we pulled him down to the Promenade. It was totally crazy down there. It was still early and not a lot of people had been out so everything was still not packed down. After a little plodding around the promenade we headed to the dog run for some sledding.
Snow Fun pictures
One unexpected result of having Ace baby-sat on Saturday was that my mom's eternal friend, Joan, came over and fixed our sink. Of course not being handy at all I decided the sink was un-repairable. I had already bought a new sink and it arrived the next day. I am going to hold onto it because I know I probably won't be able to fix that one when it breaks again. What? I said I'm not handy.

Superbowl Weekend - who cares
Watched the Superbowl yesterday. Didn't really care who won but being a man I felt compelled to watch so that I would have something in common with other men. Something to talk about around the water cooler. I wanted the Seahawks to win just because I don't think they have won before and for the familiarity with the Coach from my GB Packer fan days. I'm still a fan but since I can't ever make it to the sports bar to watch 'em it makes it hard to follow or be into. I also wanted to watch the famous SBS commercials. They were okay.I watched the Today Show this morning and they had some commercial experts on to critique. On of them was Deitch(?) who was an asshole. No wonder commercials suck with jerkoffs like him in charge. He dissed the Burger King commercial which I thought was funny and bizzare. Anyway, the commercials were okay. Ever since the Janet Jackson superbowl of filth all the adds have focused on trying to be clever or heartfelt instead of nasty. So the Superbowl came and went. Whoopee.
Over the weekend Ace scratched his face before I could cut his fingernails. When Jodi asked him "How did you cut your face?" he replied "A baby alligator bit it." Thats his story. Last night when it was close to bed time I was asking him to tell me his name and he said "E.F. Jones" I have to chalk that one up to exhaustion. I asked him if EF JONES was his name later and he said yes. Weird.
Over the weekend I did a slew of cooking. On Saturday I made pancakes, as per Ace's request. Nothing fancy just pancakes. Then for dinner I made Mexican Lime Soup which is just chicken broth with shreded chicken, and diced jalapenño, plum tomato and red onion. Simple and delicious. I also made us a round a hard core margaritas which were tasty but had me loopy pretty fast. Ace did not partake of this meal. Sunday I made eggs for breakfast, hummus snack lunch and for supper I made some crazy enchiladas. I made the salsa verde, everything. They used the same shredded chicken from the night before so everything was used. The only downside was that they took forever to make. FOREVER! And multiple steps and pans. Heat this, broil that, roast the other. But in the end it was worth it. A pretty delicious meal. I fucking RULE! In the kitchen anyway.
I forgot I wanted to add a link to this fine bit of retardedness. Arnold in Rio. If I did this and then ran for office I would never get elected. I mean, there are other mitigating factors but I would blame it on the video.

I'm a nerd from the internet
a few weeks before Christmas I ordered myself a SomethingAwful.com hoodie. It was a limited edition screening and there was a craze whipped up on the forums about them and I got caught up in it and ordered one. At SA there had been an insane thread when the hoodies were firsty mentioned. It was "Should the hoodies be a pullover or a zip up?" It was almost a race war. Of 60K+ members over 30K voted in the poll and the thread was over 100 pages (2000+ posts) of hilarious anti pullover or zip-up sentiment. There were banner ads bought. People registered just to vote. People were banned. Actually I don't know if that part is true but the way people are banned over there it's likely. In the end Zip-Upsa (my faction) won by like 200 votes. A very small margin.
For months there was no news and then one day I checked the forums and I had missed the sale. Not only that they had decided to sell both pullovers AND zip-ups. WTF?! Was our retarded internet arguement for nothing?!?! Anyway, they had announced a pre-sale for the hoodies and there was such demand that it crashed the SA eCommerce gateway. Only 30 or so people had gotten through. They announced that they needed some extra days to get their eCommerce junk in order and posted a different day and time to start selling again. I decided that I was getting in on that action. When the day and time came there were slammed again. repeatedly I was denied at the online store with errors and perhaps the 10th time I was rewarded with "Thank you for your purchase. We think you are a unique and beautiful butterfly." Then started the long and terrible wait. Sooooo long....
It was supposed to come by xmas but since SA is such a small operation in that regard things got fucked up and they didn't ship out my junk until last week. I was getting sick of peeking around the corner of my lobby to look for the package everyday.
Well this morning it came. I had neglected to tell Jodi I had ordered it since she thinks my obsession with that website it retarded to say the least. It was cheap so I didn't sweat it. Anyway, Jodi came in from tossing out the garbage this morning and was like "Did you order something from Something Awful?" I told her what it was and before I even opened it she just said "I don't get it." I don't really get it either... Oh well. I have a momento of the Something Awful Hoodie war that really didn't matter in the end. This thing is what the internet makes from $26.
One thing is for sure. This thing screams "I am from the internets!!!1" Sigh.
