Today was one of those amazing days that only happen every once in a while at Columbia. Kevin called me to let me know that the School of Engineering and Applied Science was having a free burger day. I in turn alerted the IT staff and my boss. Why do these schools or groups have free burger days? I don't know. All I know is that I appreciate them very very much. Since I don't leave my office very often, especially since I started bringing my lunch in, I rarely find out about the free burger action. Sometimes there are even hot dogs. I KNOW! So awesome.
Bad news. Ace didn't get into the local public school for Pre-K. Which means more anxiety for us. We need to find a place for him to go to school and we living in such a crazily over kidded zone its hard to believe.
Last night was the first show of the 3rd season of the Project for my improv team TEAM FERNANDEZ. We had a good show. Only 1/2 of us showed up but it was a good time. We had some good moments. There was a weird scene with a golem where I played myself as well as the Golem. I really enjoyed it. I dig our team! Come see us! Trent and Dora do! Ask them! Anyway you can read more about the show at Improv Blog

VOTE FOR ME!
So It took me a whole damn week but I got my entry into the Public Radio Talent Quest. If you get a chance please register with the site and then click here and rate my entry please. It's basically American Idol for the publkic radio set. I've listened to a lot of the entries. They are really all over the place. From totally over-produced to totally random to just weird people talking about something.
I continue to drag my feet on buying an HDTV.
Took Ace to Prospect Park again today. Jodi had to work again this weekend. This new job is pretty hardcore for her on a lot of fronts. There is a huge fund-raiser and Jodi's got ger hands deep in it.
Work was crazy this week. Shit is breaking. People are complaining. A million and one last minute requests. It was all very frustrating. I seriously doubt they are going to find me a summer replacement for Kevin. He's taking the summer off to travel around South America. So I will basically be alone for 3 months. I am kind of bumming!
More later!

I cried on the train
I have burned through a ton of media on my iPod video. In my quest to have my commute fly by I have been searching out the worlds best TV shows. Right now I am watching season 7 of the Trailer Park Boys. Why isn't this show on in the US? It's so good! But tonight I was taking the train home and I was watching a ManStrokeWoman which is an English sketch comedy show. It's pretty funny. Really just a bunch of black outs which means hard and fast sketches that hit the punchline quick and get out. I was watching the first episode of the 2nd season and there was a bit in it that made me laugh so hard that I was crying. Of course this was during rush hour so the people on both sides of me had to endure that. Eventually they were laughing too. Sigh.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
In other news I started another blog. The Improv Blog. Check it out if you get a chance.

Jokes run in the family
Ace has started telling jokes randomly. His medium? The Knock-Knock Joke. He's even repeating them. Honing his material.
Here are his best ones so far.
1) Knock knock?
Who is there?
Ghost!
Ghost Who?
GHOST SPOOKY!
--------------------------------
2) Knock knock?
Who is there?
Spider!
Spider Who?
SPIDER CREEPY!
--------------------------------
3) Knock knock?
Who is there?
Pumpkin!
Pumpkin Who?
SCARY PUMPKIN!
--------------------------------
4) Knock knock?
Who is there?
Comptuer!
Computer Who?
COMPUTER FUNNY!
They seem to come in bursts but I'm enjoying them.
On Saturday I went to a party at Studio Mesmer (the old Crobar) for Heavy.com. It was pretty weird. I got in for free but I really didn't know where the hell the party was. I mean I was in the VIP but it seemed like it was all meat heads from what I could tell. I didn't see the nerds I expected to see. There were a few other VIP parties going on so who knows what the hell was going on. I stayed long enough to watch some sexy go go dancing and to get offered some caffeinated vodka but a lady in a bikini and a crazy tattoo on her arm. I said no to the vodka shot because I didn't realize it was free. D'oh!
After that I went to the Magnet Theater to their 2 year anniversary party. It was kind of cool. I talked to a lot of people and reconnected with dudes who had been in my masters class from last summer. I need to take another class!
Everyone who reads this should go to http://publicradioquest.com/ and vote for my entry. I haven't made it yet but I will! VOTE FOR MY FUTURE! Yeah I know you have to register but do it anyway!

You missed my birthday
Yeah, It's okay. You missed my birthday but I am not angry about it. Its kind of what I've come to expect from you.
Last weekend we went to Coney Island with Jodi's folks and Ace. Man, that place is run down. It's got some great sea creatures and stuff but a lot of it is either closed or broken. No penguins. The seal and sea lion show was good. We learned alot about sea peservation and so on. Jodi's mom didn't like them telling her what she shouldn't eat because it's not sustainable fish stocks. "Who are they to tell me what to eat" she said. Uhhh... .wild life conservationists? People who study the effects of over fishing and ecosystems? I guess you're right we shouldn't listen to that at all. Instead we should all just go to Red Lobster more often and get popcorn shimp!!! BOTTOMLESS POPCORN SHRIMP! I think the highlights were definitely the Walrus which was very playful, The seals which were like magically gliding around and the otters who were totally cute. The jelly fish were cool too but kind of like "how many jellyfish can you look at before you're like "ok... more jellyfish... still don't want to get stung by one i guess. yeah... can we go?"
The boardwalk wasn't totally open yet but we strolled on it briefly after the aquarium. One funny thing that they do at the aquarium is try and take group pictures to sell you on your way out. Just like they do at amusement parks or ski resorts. The only difference is that when they take your picture you aren't infront of an amazing vista or funny picture . They just say "Hey let me take your picture" and the backdrop is the parking lot. Not REALLY a great souvenier. The boardwalk was nice. Jodi's dad got his crazy not a manhattan drink from a totally sleazy bar for only $8.... 8! Ace got to ride on some funny park rides.
Last night I performed at Ash Wednesday's "Super Power Hour." It's part of this varity show where the hosts invite 6 oftheir favorite performers to get up on stage and do a 20 min set. The thing being the performers don't know who they are performing with until they are all called up on stage. I was crazy anxious but I had what I consider to be a really good show. In fact the whole nights comedy was awesome. I don't think I had ever performed with 5 of the people on stage. I made a concerted effort to be on stage and to be involved and it worked out really well.
Afterwards I was stuck on the train for 2 hours. It was probably the most annoying train delay I have had since 9/11. They really wanted us to do soem crazy hoop jumping to get back into Brooklyn. I took a gamble that paid off and managed to get back to Brooklyn by 2am. I am pretty sure the people who changed trains got totally screwed.
What else... Jodi's getting into her new job. We have the car and it'd been great. This weekend I am going to be participating in a Halo2 LAN party that is supposedly being shot for inclusion for some extras DVD to be included in the Halo 3 Premium bundle or something. I will believe it when I see it.
I started thinking about doing a one man show called "People... I fucked up." which will be real stories of me fucking up my life. What do you think? Sounds painfully funny to me. I thought about doing a show on something else but I don't know if I could put it off. Too many zany characters and hard to believe yet true stories if you ask me. We'll see.
