I got scared by the idea of being linked by a big site so I uploaded my video to youtube. Please enjoy the first in the MacTips series.

Cyclones, Video and Impending Vacation
First of all let me tip my cap to Team Fernandez for coming in 2nd in this sessions "The Project". We actually tied with Strongers which is quite a feat considering that team is loaded with gobs of big names and what not. I am really proud that we do so well considering we don't bring very many people. Which means that the other groups audience members often vote their conscience and not just for their friends. Yeah! The next season is starting up right away even thought its August and no one will be around. I will probably even miss the first show. Kind of bummed about that but not really. I will be on vacation! It's time once again for the annual trip up to Rye Beach. Two weeks of playing in the sand with Ace and going for long walks on the beach. I am looking forward to it. Its one of the few vacations I allow myself. As it is I think I have like 23 rolled over days of vacation from last year... I'm an idiot.
Yesterday I went to the Brooklyn Cyclones game with Jodi, Ace & Finn. Jodi got the tickets through a connection at work so we had the Commerce Bank box seats. We were right behind the Cyclones dug out! Pretty sweet, right? Yeah, you'd think. Unfortunately these seats were like a main lane of traffic for all the scrubby little unattended jerk kids that run around trying to get autographs from the no name players. The most annoying pair of kids were these two weird kids who must be there for every game. They knew the names of all the people who work in the "Beach Bum" crew. That's basically the hot young things who toss t-shirts and other crap to the fans. These kids, who apparently have been taught to be CRAZY ANNOYING, kept coming down to our seats and screaming the names of the girls and asking for kisses and asking for t-shirts and asking for any scrap of attention they could get. I didn't see their parents but Jodi described the dad in extremely unflattering words. As the game was an exciting 1-1 tie at the top of the 9th Jodi and I decided to put ace out of his misery. He didn't really care about the game but he did get into the chanting of "Let's go Cyclones". I should also mention that the opposing team was the Vermont Lake Monsters. I chose that game to go to strictly on the coolness of that name.

In other news I have been messing around at work in the lulls with the portable green screen. I set it up at work and have been doing little MacBreak parodies. I wish they had some kind of cool intro to make them come off more legit but whatever. Here's a couple links to the clips. MOUSE TIP! - STICKER TIP! - MACBOOK INFO
Finn claims that he showed the one we co-wrote (MOUSE TIP!) to a guy who works at O'Grady's Powerpage and that guy wants to post the video sometime next week. I am considering trying to watermark it or put some quick credits on it. Just so I can finally be famous!!!!! Bleh.

The last Team Fernandez on the season
So last night Team Fernandez performed it's last show of the latest season. Unless there is a major upheaval we'll survive and play again. Due to some switcheroos one team got switched out with the captains team. The captains team is exactly that. Just the captains of all the teams performing against the other 2 regular teams Only 4 captains showed and that was because we were also performing. It's kind of lame because the captains team doesn't bring anyone to the show so the scores for those nights are dramatically lower than a regular show. Also since there are less people performing and therefore less paying customer friends and there for more money we have to pay out if they don't make the money minimum at the door. So we had to pay. I always feel really guilty asking people to perform. Especially since 1/2 the team is on house teams at the theater and get to perform there all the time for free and see shows for free. So here I am asking them to to pay $3 a show to play with me. It's kind of ridiculous. Especially since it's well established that the project is at the worst time of the week to have a show and in direct competition with one of the best shows at a rival theater. So thats not awesome. I am trying to find a way to more stage time that doesn't require $900 in improv classes. I mean surely I could use more rehearsing and all that. At last nights show I was using some of the craziest vagaries I could think of to describe things. I think I described the pilot house of a boat as the "The Drive-y Part of the Boat."
I am in the grips of the Harry Potter mania. I got my copy of the last book on Saturday and I am 1/2 way through. I know there are haters but it's a really fun set of books. If you can't enjoy them at some level then a part of you is probably dead inside. The worst part of reading it now is that on the train you get the knowing looks from the freaks who already read the whole thing. I had to boot some assholes from an IRC room even mentioning a spoiler. I think I have said it before. We live in a spoiler culture these days. The crying games days of the shared secret are over. I think with the Crying Game people didn't share the ending not just because you were asked not to. I think they did it because they all wanted to share the mass confusion they felt for thinking the chick was hot then discovering it was a dude. If thats a spoiler to you then you just woke up from a coma. I mean there is this Threadless T-Shirt ferchrissakes! If you love it so much that you gotta have it please use my REFERRAL URL!
Fuck it I am going to go back to reading

There is a lobster claw in my bed
last night Ace woke up, as he seems to do nightly, in panic. Many nights he goes back to sleep. But sometimes the panic is really freaked out and intense. I am usually the only one up when this happens so I deal with it. One time the panic reason was "There is a bug on the floor." I checked and there wasn't a bug on the floor. I reassured him by saying that if there was a big on the floor Buster would definitely kill and eat it. Last night I came into his room and he was standing in his bed and insisting that there was a lobster claw in the bed. Why? Who knows. I had to turn the lights on and show him that they lobster claw had apparently left. Then on top of that this morning there was an awesome thunder storm. Unfortunately Ace gets scared of thunder and needed lots of company and comforting this morning. Of late has been going through a rebellious phase that I find maddening. At home its all "No!" and "I don't want to!" and "You're bad daddy!" It's all quite frustrating. I am hoping he passes through this phase quickly.
This past weekend marked yet another of Ryan, Matt & now Kristen's bbq shindigs. This one was for Matt's 31st birthday. The usual fun was had. Ace was a hit as always. Matt's lady friend bought him a piñata and Matt let Ace help him open it. That was like the highlight of ace's night. There were water guns in the piñata and thats like Ace's new super favorite thing. So he got in a squirt gun fight with Glennis and her lady posse. Eventually the karaoke started up and I sang yet another Morrissey song. Luckily I was able to sing a new one. I am disappointed in the lack of music I would like to sing on the free karaoke zones. Heaven forbid someone wants to sing something other than "Cheeseburger in Paradise." or whatever other simple minded garbage is popular.
This weekend is the final Team Fernandez show of the season. We are in 3rd place I think and if we get 51 points we could win it all! Of course our average point total has been like 30 something and it would require a lot of people coming to see us and even more voting for us.
I just bought tickets to see a AA Class baseball game in Maine when we're up at the beach in August. I really hope that the Portland Seadogs give the Harrisburg Senators a thrashing! Can't wait to get out of the city. This is the first year we're going and didn't have to rent a car. I am psyched not to be dropping $1000 on that this year. We always blow so much $ on shit when we're in NH anyway. The outlet malls in Maine are a massive $ drainer! Oh well. It's really my only major shopping binge of the year. And on the upside we'll be at the beach so if Ace says there is a lobster claw in his bed there is a good chance it will be true.

Happy 4th of July
What up my all american ninjas? I hope you had a nice 4th of July. We spent it in and out of the rain on a friends deck in Fort Greene. It was nice. We didn't know anyone there besides the hosts who only I knew and had only met once before in person so going was a little daunting. But the party was fun and the mix of people was really cool with a friendly vibe. Probably one of the more open crowds that I have been in. Ace had a pretty good time. People interacted with him and by chance our friends neighbors came home during the party with their two and half year old daughter. So Ace had someone to run around with. He was still awake to see the fireworks which were pretty nice. We've never actually watched them from the Promenade and we live 2 blocks from it. It gets totally choked with people. Reminds me of the insanity of the Christmas tree lighting or other public spectacles. I was sorry I couldn't see the fireworks that they said were being actually shot at the river. It sounds cool to me. My boss pointed out how it was illegal to explode stuff underwater because of the fish but I don't think the fish in the hudson matter. I assume they like a good fireworks show, too.
Life continues to press forward. Whats new?
Ace turned four last Monday. Pretty nuts, right? We had the party this past weekend. Jodi's dad once again manned the grill. I was given strict instructions to not let him do so. However the guy likes to do it and I do not so who am I to get in the mans way? I am no one. What made him insist on grilling was the announcement that we had bratwurst. He wanted to to make sure they were cooked just right. Jodi also bought Johnsonville Chorizo which I thought was awesome. Not at all like a chorizo you get at a restaurant but really delicious and creamy. Creamy isn't a word I use to describe sausage often.
As for the actual party Jodi went overboard with the preparations as usual. I'm glad because if Ace's birthdays were left up to me they would be dixie cups and store bought crap sheet cake with sadness frosting and regret candles. As it was Ace's pirate themes party was a lot of fun. Jodi found a place online that had a big old pirate kit. Treasure chest, doubloons, eye patches, golden necklaces and tons of other junk. I did my part by making a treasure map and treasure stations and leading the quest for the map parts that eventually led to the treasure chest. Of course the kids had already found the treasure chest but they liked being led on the hunt anyway. Jodi made the cake again this year but unlike the cupcake cakes she made in the past this year she just made a sheet cake. It was good. I wanted to make a cool design on it but ended up just making a pirate style sword. I improvised some blood on the sword with some old colored sugar. I was a afraid that Jodi would think the blood on the sword was too gruesome for the kids but she thought it was funny.
