I like energy drinks. Wether it's before a comedy show or after work, or during work or sometime that is between the times I already mentioned. But there is one glaring problem with todays energy drinks. They all appear to be made from the exact same thing.
All City - Have no idea what the differences are in the cans. Mine was red and it was just kind of weird tasting.
Sobe Essential Energy - Pomegranate = Awesome. A
Vitamin Water - Energy - Not bad but many vitamin waters taste like jello mix to me. NOt to be confused with their energy drink in a can which until right now I had no idea was different that the regular energy drink. Beware that site has dumb Shaq superbowl flash games on it.
Arizona Rx Energy - My life blood before shows. Mainly because it is a big bottle and has more in it than Vitamin Water Energy.
Monster - not very good at all.
Monster No Carb which tastes like a liquid plastic and diarrhea mouth rinse.
Why am I telling you... you don't care...

Competing awesomeness
It's rare that things that you loved in the past come back in a new way to make you happy again. But thats whats happened for me with my discovery of Cinematic Titanic. I was a pretty big fan of the show Mystery Science Theater 3000 back in the early 90's. It was a great way to while away those super hung over Saturday mornings in Milwaukee. I'd laugh and hold my head from the pain and occasionally vomit, all the while having a good time. Then Joel Hodgeson left the show and I was really bummed. Mike Nelson, the shows head writer came in to replace Joel but it wasn't the same anymore. Then the show took a weird turn and had a weird subplot that I never full grasped so I stopped watching. I had been a long time fan of Joel's way back from when he did his stand-up routine on SNL. So I kept expecting something new after MST3K but nothing ever showed up. Then about a year or two ago Mike Nelson popped back on the scene with his new online MST3K experience called Rifftrax. I actually love these. They are pretty damn funny and they are cheap. Basically Mike and some of his cronies do the MST3K treatment to more recent movies. You download the mp3 and play it as you watch along with the movie. It sounds weird but it's actually cool. Of course you can find the audio married to illegal rips of the movies online, too. That makes it easy to watch the movie/rifftrax on your iPod on the train. I read that this was such a problem that someone suggested that Rifftrax accept donations from guilty thieves and they do actually have a donations place on their site I think.
That brings me to this weekends find. I discovered that Joel Hodgeson got together with some of the old MST3k bunch and made a new show called Cinematic Titanic. It's pretty much the same as MST3k but the silhouettes are much more intricate and there actually 6 people doing a live take on the whole movie instead of little chunks. There is some weird stuff going on where they pause the film and have funny distractions but I really enjoyed the first movie. After reading the site I just figured out that this series is just being released on DVD and hasn't even had it's premiere party yet! Well I'm looking forward to a lot more of these. They are funny as hell.
Thanks Joel and company. You made my day! Check out the trailer on the CT website. It'll give you a good idea of the hilariousness.

2008 starts in a shitty way
Greeting friends. Sorry for the too oft delayed entries. My annoyance with this blogware combined with the holiday crush and general malaise has lead to a lack of bloggable urgings. But now, now I am back!
So. How was your holiday? Mine was pretty standard fare.
School wound down and there weren't many last minute calamities or freak outs. Maybe one or two students who didn't plan and wanted me to make their DVD's. In past years I would have set them up to do it but after 3-4 years of dealing with these future builders of the world I have decided to let survival of the fittest prevail. One great example is this one major retard I have to deal with who never ceases to amaze me with his dumbness. How he has managed to live so far is beyond me. At the end of the semester he wisely decided to back-up his semesters worth of work. So be put everything into a folder and then what do you think he did next? If you are a normal person you probably said "He backed up his work to an external drive!" or "He burned it to DVD's, Lou." and these would be normal answers! Nope he took all his backed up stuff in his folder and dragged the folder over to the trash. The computer warned him that some of the stuff was too big to fit into trash and that it was going to delete the larger files and he clicked okay. So POOF! No more backed up data. Then he came freaking out about his work and my boss told him to go buy the data recovery software himself.
My cousin Amanda has started he official blog now. For a long time she's been sending out her emails detailing her life abroad as she and her family live their interesting lives in what seems like a new country every 3-4 years. Hopefully now the entries will be more frequent and less lengthy! Check it out at http://argentinastories.blogspot.com. I kid, I kid.
Christmas was the usual. Three separate gift sessions in one day followed by a trip to Milwaukee for the 4th gift giving session. Its pretty over the top. Of course with all the gift giving I made out quite well. No complaints.
In other news Jodi and I both just got over our bouts with the flu. Jodi started feeling crummy on New Years Eve. Which sucks. We made fondue and Jodi tried in vain to stay away until midnight. I managed to hold off on the getting sick for over a week by overdosing on Zicam and Airshield (CVS knockoff), I really believe that helped me stave off the real illness. Jodi was totally wiped out by this flu. She was weak and achy and feverish. When I finally got it I was sick but not to the same degree. Perhaps living with it in a super dosed body for a week took some of the punch out of it when it finally hit.
School starts in a week and I am not ready to begin the non-sense again. One of the big new thing in the office is we got this bar code system in place. Hopefully it will reduce the amount of loss due to laziness on the student employees parts. Unfortunately it's a klunky unalterable piece of shit so almost every idea we've come up with to make the system better has been answered with a "you can't change that" from the developer. Total inflexibility. And it's PC only which is extra lame. We've gotten it working for the most part but its pretty lame. Of course after we spent all this money and got this beast in place the guy who used to have my job let me know about a way better web based solution. Sigh...
