I just finished wasting my time on yet another video game. As you can tell by the title it was Rainbow Six: Vegas 2. And as you can also tell by the title I thought it was a total piece of crap. Now, I really liked the first one, Rainbow Six: Vegas. It was a lot of fun. Story kind of vague but enough to pay attention to and know what was driving the story. This game, Vegas 2, is like the ultimate phoned in piece of shit I have ever played. Somehow they took a fun game and made it edious and repetitive. Zero new in the game. Somehow the AI is dumber. Audio mix ALL over the place. half the time I had no idea what people were saying because of fire too close by, or we were in a helicopter or they appeared to be mumbling about something I assumed was plot related but usually didn't matter since you can't really get lost or proceed past your objective. I really can't say anything good about this game. When it was too hard it was like pretty insanely hard at the normal level. When it was not hard it was just repetitive and annoying.
Possibly the lamest thing was that the fact that your AI soldier guys say like 3-4 things MAX. So if you like hearing "WHO-AA!" or "Anyone keeping score?" or "Tango Down" or some variation you're in for a treat! If not it get really boring fast. Next thing about them is that they get stuck. Like in a puddle of water. Or behind a barrel about 3 feet tall. And when that happens they won't come when you call. The only way to free them is to nudge them out from what they are stuck behind. This happens when there is clear way around the objects they are caught behind. Its some weird glitch. So more than a few times the game comes to a halt and you have to go back and figure out where and what your guys are stuck behind.
Then there were audio glitches where the sound of a machine gun would go on and on and on for no reason until you paused the game. Also if you ran to fast you could see the bad guys generating. So you'd sprint ahead and look into an empty building and then pop suddenly there is a guy there and he is shooting at you.
The only interesting level of the game was in the Vegas neon graveyard. It featured some really cool classic looking vegas icons in the trash heap. Really a nice break from the repetitious casinos random warehouses. It was also the only map where you could shoot all the way across it. But it was over quickly and then ends with you having to shoot a guy in the face or he shoots you in the face. Kind of stupid.
The plot was so random. A jumble of revenge for no reason, random terrorism and some other junk i didn't get. It starts with some early career mission where something goes wrong and some hot headed recruit kills someone. Then suddenly it ends and you get taken to the present. That whole aspect of the game means nothing until like almost the end when you find out that the guy who is doing all the terror is that hot headed recruit. Why? Who the hell knows. He tells you at the end but it doesn't make any sense. Then there was a level where you're in hazmat suits the whole time because there is some chemical weapon or something. Then you get to a door where all these people are being kept. You've been blowing open doors the whole game but for some reason you can't blow this one and there is some screaming and gas or something. So suddenly these hostages you've heard about but haven't seen are all dead and you don't really care. I think thats the whole problem with the game. You don't really care. EVER.
Now I just have to work on unlearning the controls for this waste of time.
Next week is my birthday. I am no excited. I'm going to be 39. Big whoop.
Tomorrow is the last Team Fernandez show. The Project is ending and since the team was formed for The Project I feel its probably time for the team to go. Also everyone else on the team is like insanely talented and really good and already on house team at theaters so they have better things to do. Maybe we'll work on getting to a festival. When I say we I mean me. I like going to fests. What can I say. Tomorrow is going to be a crazy day for the improv for sho'.
